2016 Rogue Vs 2016 RAV4
2016 Rogue SL AWD and 2016 RAV4
We have reviewed the Rogue here before. Today we are going to compare the Rogue to it's number one competitor, the Toyota RAV4.
There are other Crossover Vehicles sold here in Canada but quality-wise the Toyota and the Nissan are a cut above. You can most certainly buy cheaper cars but why would you?
Even though I toil at Belleville Nissan I do recognize the fact that Toyota produces a quality vehicle. But, I just happen to think our Rogue is a bit more functional.
Ask just about anyone in the Crossover Market what they are looking for and the answer is almost always the same - functional interior space, comfort, good fuel economy and safe and easy driving.
Let's get the safety issue out of the way first. Both the RAV4 and the Rogue have earned the Top Safety Rating from IIHS. They all have oodles of air bags and back up cameras and all the latest gizmos like lane departure warnings etc. The Rogue also has the class exclusive 360 Degree Around View Monitor. If you have yet to see this in action I suggest you drop in and I'll show you how cool it is. No more running over that Tricycle the neighbours kid left in the driveway.
As far as fuel economy goes the Rogue bests the RAV4 - not by a huge amount but by enough to make it matter. The Rogues boasts an economy rating of 7.4 litres per 100K on the highway and the RAV4 is at 7.6. In the city the Rogue is at 9.5 and the RAV4 is at 10 per 100K.
The Rogue also performs a bit better - it has a faster 1/4 mile speed.
And, don't forget the Zero Gravity Seats. Why get fatigued on that drive to the cottage or trailer?
As far as functionality - well, here the Rogue begins to pull away. With the unique Divide 'N' Hide system, sliding rear seats, stadium seating and a fold down passenger seat up front there is an almost limitless array of configurations for you to choose from. Puppies, hockey gear, DIY projects, suitcases or family members will all fit comfortably in the friendly confines of your new 2016 Rogue (here at 28 Millennium Parkway, Belleville - just North of the 401 off of HWY 62).
The Rogue is also a tad more budget friendly.
Assuming no money down the Rogue SL AWD (top of the line) will set you back $243 bi-weekly at 1.99% (all number as of May 2016) - the RAV4 is a pricier $268 at 2.49%
A five year lease at 20,000 Kilometres per year on the Rogue will be $467 at 1.99% per month and the RAV4 is $493 - also at 1.99%.
